Caring for our community one patient at a time since 1985

Welcome to the online home of LifeMed EMS. With bases in North Manchester and Silver Lake, LifeMed has been a leader in Emergency Medical Services in northeast Indiana since 1985. Becoming Wabash County's first paramedic EMS provider in 1993, LifeMed was the first to bring "big city" levels of prehospital care to our rural customers. Through affiliation with an aggressive medical control system we continue to bring advances to the communities we serve, including some not yet found in some area high population centers.

Our tiered medical transportation system ensures that we are able to provide the most appropriate type of medical transportation to our customers. This ranges from ambulatory and wheelchair transportation to highly skilled paramedic level critical care transport and 911 services. LifeMed is the only EMS agency in the area that offers such a broad range of services.

Please feel free to browse this site and get to know us a little better. Inside you'll find answers to many questions you may have as well as valuable information about community education offerings, employment opportunities and more. This site is updated frequently, so check back often. If there is something you'd like to see here but can't find, please drop us an email and we'll try to add it.

LifeMed Hosts ITLS Course
5/15/2010 - Sixteen EMTs and paramedics from LifeMed and other nearby agencies met at the North Manchester Public Safety Building on May 14 and 15 to attend the International Trauma Life Support course. Students were instructed in the latest information and techniques in trauma care. The course's goal is to improve trauma survival by improving the student's ability to prioritize injuries, shorten scene times and recognize and treat the most common causes of trauma death.

LifeMed Celebrates a Quarter Century of Service
2/14/2010 - Today marks twenty-five years of service by LifeMed EMS to the Wabash-Kosciusko County area. Certified originally on February 14, 1985 as a BLS ambulance service, LifeMed has grown over the years. On February 17, 1993 LifeMed became the first Paramedic level EMS provider in Wabash County.

Today LifeMed operates four ambulances and a Paramedic Non-Transport Unit out of bases in North Manchester and Silver Lake. Its staff of nearly forty basic and advanced EMTs and paramedics provide 911 and nonemergency ambulance service to over 200 square miles of northern Wabash and southern Kosciusko Counties and critical care transfer services to several area hospitals. LifeMed also provides wheelchair and ambulatory transport services to area healthcare facilities as a more cost effective transportation option for patients who do not require transport on a stretcher.

LifeMed's Silver Lake Base Now Open
1/9/2010 - LifeMed rang in the new year by opening it's new Silver Lake base on New Years Day. The new base is in the Silver Lake/Lake Township Fire Station and now houses an ambulance and paramedic crew 24/7. This unit covers all of Lake Township and parts of Jackson, Seward and Franklin Townships in Kosciusko County and part of Pleasant Township in Wabash County.
